The list of all of our Board Members is listed below:

Matt Smith, CPHIMS - President

Matt is the Director of Ambulatory IT and System Administration for the University of Kansas Hospital where his team is responsible for technology in the Ambulatory locations for the hospital, System Administration, and also working on Epic EHR implementations, along with systems support.  He has worked at the University of Kansas Hospital nearly 10 years, with 13 years of Healthcare IT experience, and 17 years in the IT industry.

Matt has been on the HIMSS Heart of America board as the Communication Chair for 5 years, and was on the Programming Committee prior to this role for 1 year.   He is also a past member of the HIMSS National Task Force. Matt is also a member of CHIME (College of Healthcare Information Management Executives) and has earned his CPHIMS Certification.


Dave Lingerfelt - President Elect

Dave Lingerfelt is the Department Chair/ Professor of Health Information Systems/Billing, Coding and Transcription at Johnson County Community College. He has held this role since 2012. Prior to that Dave worked as adjunct faculty at Johnson County Community College. Dave started his professional career at the Cerner Corporation in 2002 as a Technical Support Engineer. He later moved on to manage the technical training division. Dave then managed the social business (Web 2.0) implementation team working to establish a social business presence for Cerner. In his last 2 years at Cerner he worked in the remote hosting division. He was responsible for implementing and supporting large scale health systems as they adopted new technology and upgraded existing platforms.

Dave holds a B.S. in Management Information Systems and Computer Science from Kansas State University. He earned his M.B.A with emphasis in Health Care Leadership from Park University. 


Linda Gerber - Past-President

 

Linda is a passionate Healthcare IT Consultant specializing in software development to solve problems, streamline processes and provide value. 

Linda was the Vice President of the Health Information Technology at Pershing, Yoakley & Assoc. (PYA) where she worked on various Healthcare projects from Predictive Readmission Application to determining Episode of Care Cost.   Gerber has 20+ years’ experience in IT Infrastructure, software conceptualization, development and project management.  She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education with emphasis in Business Administration and Computer Science from the University of Missouri – Kansas City.
 
Linda is currently the Past-President of the HIMSS Heart of America Chapter and has been a member since 2009.  She servied as Programming Committee in 2009-2010; Board Secretary from 2010 – 2012; Programming Committee Chair from 2012-2014.  President-Elect 2014-2015 and President 2015-present.


Sean Roberts - Treasurer

 

Sean Roberts is the Systems Director of IT for the University Of Kansas Hospital. In this role Sean is responsible for Servers and Storage, Systems Administration, Network, IT Service Desk, Project Management, Systems Administration, Ambulatory IT and Data Center.
 
Sean is a past President of the Heart of America HIMSS as well as an active member of CHIME and HDI. Sean has worked in Health care IT for 15 years and in Healthcare for 18 years. Over the span of 13 years his main focus has been the implementation and support of Ambulatory and Inpatient EHR’s.
 
Sean is a graduate of Emporia State University and has a BS in Business Administration.

 Christina Hiatt

Christina Hiatt is the Clinical Informatics Education Specialist at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. She has worked at Shawnee Mission Medical Center since 2011 and in her role she provides informatics education to new and seasoned nurses. She has a passion for helping others learn new applications and implementing new software that improves patient safety. Christina currently serves as the Secretary for the Heart of America HIMSS chapter board and is an active member of ANIA. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Saint Mary.

Lori Brooks, CPHIMS, CHSP - Workforce Chair 

After 9 years in secondary education, Lori Brooks entered the field of healthcare information systems as the Clinical Content Manager for Pulse Systems, Inc. where she focused on clinical documentation design while concurrently managing multiple clinical content implementations. Lori went on to work as the EHR Specialist for College Park Family Care Center, a large multi-specialty practice, where she was responsible for developing, supporting and maintaining all clinical aspects of the company’s EHR

Andrea Hall - Advocacy 

 

 

Andrea is the Director of Clinical informatics at Shawnee Mission Health.  She has worked at Shawnee Mission since 2008, and her department oversees the informatics implementation, education and optimization for both nurses and providers.  She is also the Meaningful Use coordinator for the hospital.  Prior to working in informatics, Andrea worked in ER and ICU and Shawnee Mission, and as a Neuro ICU nurse for 5 years at The Queens Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.  Currently Andrea serves as the Advocacy Chair for the Heart of America HIMSS chapter board, and sits on the Kansas Hospital Association Health IT Advisory Group.

She has an Associate Degree in Nursing, a Bachelors in Management and a Masters in Healthcare Administration from Park University in Parkville, MO.  She lives in Overland Park Kansas with her 7 year old son Landon, and loves to follow the Kansas City Royals.


Lauren Pulino - Communications Chair

Lauren is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Information Management at The University of Kansas Medical Center.  In addition to her teaching role, Lauren is the program director for the academic and simulation electronic health record, s-EHR, for the university.  Her responsibilities include developing and managing program operations and logistics in addition to building and configuring simulated patient documentation. 

Lauren has diverse experience in health care software applications, including system design and build, testing, training, and curriculum development.  Prior to her faculty role, she worked at The University of Kansas Hospital.  Her responsibilities there included training various groups of end users in multiple specialties on the use of the hospital’s electronic health record system and maintaining the training environment across all applications.

Lauren earned a bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management from Temple University in 2006.  She completed a master’s degree in Health Informatics with a concentration in Health Policy and Management from The University of Kansas in 2016.


Roy Foster - Member at Large

As the senior director of population health, Roy Foster has responsibility for Cerner’s portfolio of consulting services focused on developing and executing population health strategies.

Roy has worked with community hospitals, large IDNs, governments, employers at all stages of their population health journeys across the U.S., Europe, Middle East, Aruba and Australia.  

During his time at Cerner, Roy has launched several new strategic consulting service practices focused on optimization to value, clinical quality reporting, regulatory and compliance, and most recently population health.  He is able to accomplish this by recruiting talented and passionate associates who value teamwork and commitment to success. 

Roy also has been invited to speak at industry events in both the U.S. and the U.K. 

Roy has a bachelor’s degree in biology with an emphasis in chemistry from Ottawa University.  He is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Integrated Healthcare Delivery from Western Governor’s University.
